his course is for new referees 14 years or older (must be 14 years old on or before the course date to register), who would like to referee U11 8v8, U13 and older 11v11, or act as an assistant referee (linesman) at any level. Any referee who has taken an Entry Level course, 14 or older, would be able to referee Mini games.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The course will still have a pre-online module component and a 1-day in person course. Students will not be able to see or sign up for the practical until the modules are completed.

A one-day introductory course for people 12 years and older (must be 12 years old or above, on or before the date of the course to register), who would like to referee U9 and younger only. As of 2020, all Mini Referee Courses include AR training. Any referee who has taken an Entry Level course, 14 or older, would be able to referee Mini games.

This course is for existing 11v11 referees (not mini referees). There is a mandatory refresher course prior to the start of the outdoor and indoor seasons. Returning Entry Level referees will need to register for the season and pass the Outdoor Questionnaire to be able to register for a Refresher course. They will not appear on the Eligible List of Outdoor Officials until they have completed all three components.

The Assistant Referee course is open for all participants 11 years of age or older. This course provides children with the needed instruction to assistant referee a game. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a jersey, shorts, badge, socks and flag. Please ensure participants bring gym clothes and appropriate indoor footwear as there is an indoor field portion with this course.
Price: $135 (course + ref uniform) by e-transfer to Dragosn@emsamain.com. Please note that the student will be approved only after payment has been received.
This course has 3 components:
1st component: Classroom Training plus Exam (2 hours)
2nd component: Practical Session (2 hours) — same day
3rd component: Exam Review (1 hour) — ref uniform will be provided during this session

This course is for those that completed an EMSA AR Course in prior years and want to continue to officiate as an EMSA AR in the 2026 outdoor season. If you have completed an ASA Entry Level Referee Course since becoming an EMSA AR you do not need to attend this course. This course is free.
